Welcome
I have spent over twenty years in and around the talent development space. I have been a consultant, a professor, and a corporate executive and priveliged to work up close with some of the countries top companies, including PepsiCo, Target, General Mills, Delta Air Lines, Royal Bank Financial Group, and most recently, Thomson Reuters.
Throughout my experience, I have seen talent development done well and I have seen it done poorly. And, so I don’t sound arrogant, I should confess that my work has probably fallen at various times into both categories and in-between. I recall the words of one professor I had along the way who said, “one third of OD work makes no difference, one third improves things, and one third makes things worse.”
In my current role as Assistant Dean of Executive Education for the Carlson School of Management, my job is to make sure that 100% of our talent development efforts have a positive impact on individual participants and their organizations.
Through this blog I intend to share the best practices and thinking that I have encountered throughout my career as well as to bring you the latest insight from leading thinkers in the learning and development field. If you see something that interests you, please leave a note and engage in some dialogue here.
Regards,
Mark Kizilos
